The Aide assists classroom staff in implementing individualized goals for children and provides support for special needs students within the classroom. They are responsible for observing behavioral data, maintaining safety, and facilitating communication between staff and parents.
Under the general supervision of the Teacher, the Aide assists the classroom staff in the implementation of individualized goals and objectives set forth in the partnership with the Parent/Guardian and the Teaching staff for children identified in need of additional guidance within the classroom environment. The Aide will participate in regular communication with staff concerning children, as well as on going communication with parents/guardians. The Aide will support classroom and playground supervision to ensure the safety of every child. The Aide will be a floater between the classrooms as assigned or needed. Essential Functions Observes and records specific behavioral data as well as targeted goals and objectives as directed by the Teacher. Routinely communicates observations and progress with program staff. Adapts planned activities, materials, and equipment to facilitate participation by special needs children. Help promote communication, play, and socialization with classmates. Performs required care-giving activities for children as necessary (i.e. feeding, toileting, dressing, etc.) Implement behavior management techniques and monitor progress and effectiveness as directed by the teacher. Assist staff in implementing curriculum and individualized goals for the special needs children to promote growth and learning in all developmental areas. Encourage parental involvement into the program and maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians in a professional and respectful manner, with confidentiality. Additional classroom duties as assigned by Teacher in conducting day-to-day site activities. Regular and predictable attendance. Perform other relevant duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Maintain a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to be insurable under CRIHB’s automobile insurance. Position may require occasional overnight travel within CRIHB’s service area. Requires the ability to drive up to seven (7) hours a day. QualificationsQualificationsCRIHB recognizes that an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible leadership experience may be considered. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all applicants. Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma One (1) year experience working with children ages 3-5. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desire to increase knowledge of normal child growth/development, parent-child relationships, and children with special needs. Ability to demonstrate sound and mature judgment. Ability and knowledge to work with 3–5-year-old children and meet Head Start Standards of Conduct and Confidentiality. Ability to write logically, clearly, concisely, and effectively with good grammar. Skills in working with a diverse group of parents/guardians. Ability to work independently, while remaining self-motivated, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a team. Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment and ongoing clearances, including a current physical examination, negative tuberculosis (TB) test, Hepatitis B vaccination series (I, II, and III), CPR and First Aid certifications, criminal background fingerprint clearance, Megan's Law clearance, and TrustLine clearance, as applicable. 2. Preferred Qualification Six (6) units in early childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
