The Old Colony YMCA is looking for a passionate and dedicated Child Care Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. In this role, you'll lead enriching activities, support children's development, and build strong relationships with families while living the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Key responsibilities

Plan and lead age-appropriate curriculum and activities aligned with EEC, NAEYC, and YMCA standards.

Create a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.

Supervise children and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.

Foster strong partnerships with families through regular communication and program updates.

Maintain attendance, reports, and required documentation.

Support nutrition and wellness initiatives that meet HEPA standards.

Assist with staff training, meetings, and professional development.

Help promote YMCA programs, events, and community engagement.

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program space.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 21 years of age or have a high school diploma or equivalent AND meet EEC requirements for education and experience for Teacher.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
  • Immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and meet EEC requirements for a teacher. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are mandatory, along with the ability to perform physical tasks like lifting up to 75lbs.
