The coach is responsible for conducting daily swim practices, instructing swimming skills, and ensuring the safety of children on the team. They also assist in meet preparation and attend swim meets as directed by the Head Swim Team Coach.

JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, is responsible for the safety, instruction and training of children participating in the Elk Grove Swim Team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Conduct daily practices based on a training regiment as directed by the Head Swim Team Coach.
Recommend swimmer’s placement in swim meets.
Assist in preparing meet line-ups.
Instruction of swimming skills needed for team participation.
Attend meets at direction of Head Swim Team Coach.
Swipe in and out daily and provide Head Swim Team Coach with timesheet for meets.
Attend meets at direction of Head Swim Team Coach.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
Maintain clean areas after daily practices and meets.
Continue professional development through continuing education.
Flexibility, communication skills and patience. Ability to work cooperatively in teams and with others. Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions. Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Safety Training for Swim Coaches. Previous competitive swimming experience.
Candidates must have previous competitive swimming experience and possess Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification. Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment are required.
