About the role

The Assistant Professor is responsible for providing academic and whole-student support through coaching, mentoring, and remediation. They collaborate with faculty to enhance student learning outcomes and contribute to the development and implementation of academic success initiatives.

Job Summary

The Assistant Professor's responsibility encompasses education, research, and/or service. Demonstrates loyalty to the mission, policies, standards, and regulations of his/her department, school, and the University, and follows the administrative policies set up by the University and the individual school. The Assistant Professor position provides academic and whole-student support through coaching, mentoring, and remediation for individual students and small groups. This role assists students in identifying and implementing effective strategies, tools, and resources to promote academic success and personal development. The Assistant Professor collaborates with departmental and School of Nursing faculty to enhance student learning outcomes and contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic and whole-student success initiatives. This position fosters an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes student retention, academic achievement, professional growth, and overall student success. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience

Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution. Two years post-masters teaching experience or closely related professional experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position as well as Canvas and Banner. Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Professional certification, licensure or registration as appropriate.
