Summary: The Child Care Assistant assists the classroom teachers in all aspects of the program helping create a total learning environment for the individual needs of each child. Supports the teaching staff, center philosophy, program and the curriculum, assisting with all child care and educational activities. Uses appropriate teaching techniques at all times. Gives children guidance for the proper care and use of supplies, learning materials, and equipment. Understands and knows child's family. Helps with general housekeeping tasks.

Maintains a clean child center environment both inside the center and outside. Encourages and instructs children in personal hygiene and group health practices. Report any suspect child abuse to supervisor. Additional Duties Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

Requirements

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years of experience working with children. A CPR certification is required within one year of hire, along with a satisfactory criminal records check.
