About the role

The Behavior Specialist will provide direct behavioral and mental health interventions to children and families while maintaining accurate clinical records. They are responsible for conducting functional behavioral analyses, developing individualized family plans, and collaborating with the TBS team to track progress.

*$1,000 hiring bonus, additional $1,500 spanish speaking bonus*

Qualifications: Education & Experience

Applicable Direct Care Experience Definition

Direct Care experience in providing behavioral or mental health intervention and support including behavioral health skill building, social & emotional learning, social adjustment, vocation adjustment, and physical restoration.

  • Behavior Specialist III
  • Master’s Degree and 6 months of full-time direct care experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 24 months of full-time direct care experience
  • Associate’s degree and 36 months of full-time direct care experience
  • High School Diploma/GED and 48 months of full-time direct care experience

Essential job functions

  • Position Specific
  • Writes clear, accurate, and timely progress notes consistent with each contact/visit
  • Participates in the development of individualized family plans with other members of the TBS team
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, consultation, and case management meetings as scheduled
  • Accountable for individual time management
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with agency and community programs
  • Utilizes resources to utilize behavior interventions and strategies
  • Forms positive, constructive relationships with children and their families
  • Identifies strengths, skills, and positive qualities in children and families
  • Identifies temporary and sustainable resources and services within family and community environments
  • Observes and evaluates behavior, then completes a Functional Behavioral Analysis
  • Utilizes the Functional Behavioral Analysis to implement change programming
  • Records behavioral data to ensure accurate tracking of target behavior change
  • Makes recommendations to modify goals as indicated by behavioral data
  • Makes recommendations for all phases of treatment, including termination of TBS services
  • Maintains accurate and timely records
  • Follows all agency policies and procedures
  • Follows all agency, State and Federal health and safety rules and regulations
  • Seeks out clinical information and advice as needed, accepts constructive feedback and reasonable recommendations from supervisor
  • Mentors new TBS Behavioral Specialists
  • Maintains ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the families
  • Agency Specific
  • Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the principles and values of agency, while adhering to applicable professional codes of ethics, the agency’s policies and procedures, contractor requirements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Model and communicate appropriate positive attitudes toward the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Work collaboratively with all agency programs and staff to provide support as needed
  • Utilize and maintain calendar with all work-related details to manage time effectively and share calendar information with coworkers
  • Participate in on-going training to expand and develop professional skills
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the agency, as assigned

  • Compensation The posted salary band represents the full pay range for this role and reflects opportunities for compensation growth over time. The typical hiring range reflects where we reasonably expect to make offers to new hires based on relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
  • Typical hiring range: $28.60 – $34.10 per hour
  • Full salary band: $28.60 – $39.60 per hour

Compensation offers are made through our established compensation framework to promote fairness, consistency, and internal equity.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a degree ranging from a High School Diploma to a Master's degree, with corresponding direct care experience requirements ranging from 6 to 48 months. The role requires the ability to work flexible hours and maintain positive relationships with community programs and families.
