About the role

The CYE faculty member is responsible for planning and delivering engaging educational experiences while supervising classroom activities to ensure student safety. They also act as a role model for Jewish values and maintain proactive communication with staff and parents.

Job Summary

A CYE faculty member serves as a teacher and/or counselor in one of our youth education and engagement programs. Your responsibilities include (1) planning, alongside your assigned teenage assistants, compelling, differentiated learning or engagement experiences, as specified by our curriculum, (2) creating a nurturing and supportive environment for students, (3) supervising your classroom or camp experience to ensure compliance with Wise regulations and values, and (4) proactively communicating with fellow staff and parents.

Duties/Responsibilities

Camp Wise Sundays: Prepares and supervises camp and classroom activities for students, consistent with the curriculum. Coordinates with madrichim to ensure seamless experience. Regularly assesses student community and reports behavioral issues and friendships to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.

T’filah Studies: Prepares and teaches learning activities to promote mastery of: (1) Hebrew alphabet enunciation, (2) Jewish prayer participation and leadership, and (3) general understanding of Jewish prayers. Coordinates with madrichim as needed. Regularly assesses student performance and reports student progress to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.

Hebrew Studies: Prepares and teaches learning activities to promote comfort with the Hebrew language and knowledge of Hebrew/Israeli culture. Coordinates with madrichim as needed. Regularly assesses student performance and reports student progress to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.

Teen Studies: Prepares and supervises camp and classroom activities for students, consistent with the curriculum. Coordinates with madrichim to ensure seamless experience. Regularly assesses student community and reports behavioral issues and friendships to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, or bend.
  • May need to lift and carry items up to [10–25 lbs], such as files or teaching supplies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and clients, in person and via phone or video.
