The lifeguard is responsible for maintaining constant surveillance of the aquatic facility to ensure patron safety and responding decisively to emergency situations. They also provide professional customer service and act as a liaison between patrons and athletic department staff.
East Stroudsburg University’s Department of Athletics currently seeks a dynamic individual to serve as Student Lifeguard for Athletics Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all adults and students using the aquatic facility in Koehler Field House. Candidates will monitor activities in the swimming pool area, provide assistance to swimmers, inspect the facilities for cleanliness and safety, and discharge related lifeguarding responsibilities as per lifeguarding regulations.
Current ESU student in good academic standing. Be registered for the fall/spring semester. Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification. Current First Aid/AED/CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Previous lifeguard experience, preferred. Knowledge of current pool procedures, policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using the pool and surrounding area. Ability to work any days and/or shifts needed, including nights and weekends. Ability to exercise sound judgment and solve problems as necessary and work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment. Applicants must be personable, reliable, have great communication skills, and have high levels of integrity and professionalism at all times in every aspect of the position.
Hourly rate of pay $9.50 to $10.00 based on experience. Employment Eligibility & University Commitment Must be at least 18 years old and have English literacy skills.
