About the role

The Preschool Teacher will lead a high-quality, inclusive classroom by planning developmentally appropriate learning experiences and fostering strong relationships with children and families. They are responsible for observing and documenting child development while maintaining a safe and instructionally rich environment.

About the Role

At Clinton Hill, preschool teachers do more than prepare children for kindergarten—they help shape how children see themselves as learners. We are seeking an enthusiastic, reflective, and nurturing Preschool Teacher to lead a high-quality classroom where children feel safe, valued, curious, and excited to learn. You will combine purposeful instruction with play, exploration, strong relationships, and individualized support to help every child make meaningful progress. What you'll do Create a welcoming, inclusive classroom where children can learn, explore, and build confidence. Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with the approved curriculum and preschool standards. Use small groups, learning centers, read-alouds, conversations, and hands-on activities to strengthen children’s skills. Observe and document children’s development and use assessment information to individualize instruction. Maintain active supervision and a safe, organized, instructionally rich classroom. Use positive guidance and approved support strategies to promote children’s social-emotional development and successful participation. Partner with Teacher Assistants, instructional coaches, specialists, and site leadership to support classroom quality. Build respectful relationships with families and keep them connected to their child’s learning and progress. Participate in coaching, professional development, collaborative planning, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. New Jersey Preschool through Grade 3 Certificate of Eligibility, Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing, Limited Certificate of Eligibility, or Standard Certificate—or eligibility to obtain an accepted credential. Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices. Ability to create an engaging classroom while maintaining strong instructional, behavioral, and safety expectations. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and documentation skills. Successful completion of all required background checks, health clearances, and program training. Experience with Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, inclusive education, or preschool classrooms is valued.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and a valid New Jersey Preschool through Grade 3 teaching certificate. Strong knowledge of early childhood development and the ability to maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment are required.
