We are seeking a High School Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and academic support while helping students develop the skills needed for success in school, work, and beyond.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver instruction aligned with individual IEP goals. Provide academic, behavioral, and organizational support to students. Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate IEP-related documentation. Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on student goals and services. Work closely with general education teachers and related service providers. Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and transition skills. Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment. Communicate regularly with families and members of the educational team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s preferred. Valid Connecticut Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs preferred. Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills. Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and instructional modifications. Commitment to supporting students academically, socially, and in preparation for post-secondary goals.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field and possess a valid Connecticut Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs is preferred.
