  • Range: $21.63 - $24.04 HourlyErie Neighborhood House, a community-building agency empowering Chicago’s low-income and immigrant family and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society is seeking a Home Visitor for the Early Head Start Home Based Program. The Home Visitor will provide appropriate educational lessons to the families and children. The program focuses on teaching parents and providing them with family activities that support them to be their child’s first teacher. The Home Visitor will meet with family/child in the commodity of the child’s home once a week for an hour and a half. The Home Visitor will also be providing mental-health assessment as an educational assessment as part of the learning curriculum.

  • Responsibilities: In collaboration with the classroom team, plans, prepares, and implements developmentally and culturally appropriate lesson plans. Travel from the center to the family’s home daily as needed. Participate in recruitment events as needed. In collaboration with the team, Home Visitor’s plan socialization events Engages and interacts with all children in the classroom to facilitate social and academic learning. Meets with the lead teacher monthly for supervision and support Uses active supervision techniques to always supervise children Acts as an ambassador for Erie Neighborhood House Child Care Participate in quarterly team meetings with Supervisor Participates in transition meetings as needed Must participate in the yearly in-service for ECE-Department Enter documentation into Child/Plus. Maintains current Gateways Registry membership Completes two home visits per program year according to the education timeline Completes parent teacher conferences according to the education timeline Attend all staff meetings, agency meetings, and in-service meetings as required Maintains current Illinois Gateways Registry membership Maintains five hours of Gateways approved trainings per program year Completes 20 hours of professional development training per program year Responsible for the program complying with Erie, the Board of Education and all State licensing requirements and performance standards, including promoting the health and safety of all children, following sanitation procedures and universal precautions, completing a bi-annual physical exam, complying with the Confidentiality and Child Abuse and Neglect Act as a mandated reporter, as well as the American with Disabilities Act and Erie’s Inclusion

  • Requirements: Education- BA, (Social Service, Human Services, Counseling, or related field).

Minimum

  • AA or High School Diploma and must be attending school and have at least 18 college credit hours, pursuing A.A- degree. Must obtain an Illinois Gateway ECE credential level 4 within 3 months of Employment Experience working in licensed day care center Parent as Teacher Certified Bilingual/bicultural Spanish preferred Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Physical constraints required include but are not limited to the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, for purposes such as lifting a hurt child or lifting a child for the safety evacuation of the building during emergencies. Must be able to sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrates the following qualities: self-motivated, self-directed, follows directions, makes good judgments, creative, reliable, and dependable. Exhibits sincere interest in working with children and is knowledgeable regarding children's development and growth. Ability to respond immediately to any emergency situation. Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States Maintain Active Gateways Membership CPR and First Aid Certification Upon offer of employment, must complete all forms related to hiring, including Erie’s application and employment status. Must provide three letters of recommendation.
