Summary

The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and inspiring the school's cheer program in alignment with the mission and goals of the Global Village Academy Athletic Department. This position involves instructing student-athletes in cheerleading fundamentals, choreography, performance techniques, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Head Cheer Coach will foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment that supports both the athletic and personal growth of each team member while promoting school spirit and community engagement. Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and conduct all cheerleading practices, performances, and events. Develop routines, cheers, dances, and stunts appropriate for the team's skill level and in compliance with safety standards and CHSAA regulations. Foster teamwork, leadership, discipline, and respect among athletes. Collaborate with the Athletic Director to plan schedules, coordinate performances, and manage program logistics. Ensure the safety and supervision of all cheerleaders during practices, games, and events. Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and progress. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team activities. Coordinate and participate in team fundraising or spirit events as needed. Oversee the care, inventory, and ordering of uniforms and equipment. Promote positive sportsmanship, school pride, and the values of the GVA Athletic Program. Attend all required games, practices, meetings, and training sessions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of 1 year of experience coaching or leading cheerleading or team sports. Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, choreography, and safety regulations. Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, parents, and staff. Must be available for approximately 8 weeks, averaging 6–8 hours per week during afternoons and evenings. Ability to model professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm consistent with GVA's mission and values. Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Requirements

Candidates must have at least one year of experience in coaching cheerleading or team sports and possess strong knowledge of safety regulations. A current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff is required.
