Job summary

The special Education Teacher is a highly qualified teacher who is responsible for individual instruction of students with IEP's conducting annual meetings for the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and managing a caseload of students. The priority is to work in partnership with parents, students, paraprofessionals, and regular education teachers to promote student achievement and collect student data to measure growth. The special education teacher will work directly in the classrooms.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Collaborate with regular education teachers and paraprofessionals to monitor student progress.

Collaborate with external educational agencies, including school districts and special education services, to coordinate services and resources for students transitioning in and out of the facility.

Collect data and appropriate work samples and regularly review and monitor the progress of students in achieving their IEP goals.

Conduct ongoing assessments to identify areas of strengths and areas needing additional support.

Facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring the involvement of all relevant stakeholders, including parents/guardians and external educational agencies.

Complete quarterly progress reports for caseload Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to students' IEPs, progress reports, and communication with stakeholders.

Instruct students individually, in small groups, or as a whole class.

Be consistent and assist regular education teachers with specially designed instruction.

Knowledge of different intervention strategies to support students.

Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in special education to ensure compliance and quality service delivery.

Attend professional development, team, department, and other meetings at school.

Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's educational progress and involvement in the IEP process.

The Special Education Teacher will fulfill the role as a Case Manager and, under the supervision of the Education Director, ensure that all IEPs are in compliance.

The Special Education Teacher will collaborate with the General Education teachers and the Clinical and Group Living Departments to ensure IEP goals and objectives are met.

The Special Education Teacher will provide IEP goals and objectives progress to the student's parents, school district, placement agency, and therapist.

Maintains confidentiality and models professionalism as a representative of LRA in all locations.

9.

Follows all safety regulations and does not hesitate to suggest changes that might improve safety.

10.

Completes necessary documentation within times specified in policies and procedures.

11.

Greets all visitors, parents and reviewers with a smile and the utmost respect.

12.

Models ethical behavior when resolving misunderstandings, disagreements and conflicts.

13.

Responds positively to a supervisor's reasonable request to perform other duties.

Qualifications

1. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. 2. A special Education license for the state if Utah is required. 3. An endorsement in English is preferred but not required. 4. A minimum 1 to 2 years of special education experienc is preferred. 5. Experience in working with adolescents. 6. Knowledge of human behavior, social interactions, and psychology is beneficial. 7. Strong oral and written communication skills. 8. Proficient in telephone, computer, and face-to-face communication skills. 9. Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and students

Physical demands

The employee may be required to do the following: · Physically able to bend, stand, stoop, or sit for long periods of time. · Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. · Push / Pull up to 100 lbs. · Possible restraining of escalated clients

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and a Utah special education license. Preference is given to those with 1 to 2 years of experience and an English endorsement.
