About the role

The Floater Teacher provides support across infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms to ensure continuity of care and instruction. They assist with daily activities, maintain a safe and nurturing environment, and support the developmental needs of children.

This position assists lead and assistant teachers by maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while supporting the developmental needs of children from infancy through preschool. The Floater Teacher must be flexible, dependable, and able to adapt to different age groups and classroom routines as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom coverage as assigned for infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms.
  • Assist with implementing developmentally appropriate activities and daily lesson plans.
  • Maintain active supervision of children at all times to ensure their health and safety.
  • Support children's cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development.
  • Assist with classroom management using positive guidance techniques.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Follow daily schedules, routines, and licensing regulations.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Assist with meal service, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other personal care routines as appropriate.
  • Complete assigned documentation and communicate effectively with classroom staff and administration.
  • Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Educational Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a licensed childcare or early childhood education setting.
  • Ability to work with children of various ages, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential preferred. Additional coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus. Experience in a Keystone STARS, Head Start, or Pre-K program is preferred. Required Clearances

The selected candidate must obtain and maintain the following clearances prior to employment:

Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance FBI Criminal History Clearance (if applicable) National Sex Offender Registry Verification Mandated Reporter Training Certificate Current Health Assessment with TB Screening Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within the required timeframe) Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the workday. Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Working Conditions
