About the role

The Nursing Assistant Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student achievement, and ensuring compliance with Wisconsin Department of Health Services regulations. The role involves collaborating with the program director to update curriculum, manage learning environments, and support student success through various instructional strategies.

Overview Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Nursing Assistant Instructor at the New Richmond Campus.

Nursing Assistant Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and supporting student success in the Nursing Assistant program.

Instructors ensure that instruction requirements comply with Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations and applicable federal guidelines for nursing assistant education.

The position is scheduled over three academic terms each year, with work hours determined by the Associate Dean to best meet program and student needs.

This is a grant-funded, limited term employment (LTE) position with funding currently secured through September 30, 2027.

Opportunities for continuation will be evaluated based on program needs, funding availability, and performance.

Northwood Tech Instructors teach in a discipline area in which they have specific training and competence.

Instructors are expected to foster learner success, assess learner achievement, and continually improve learning opportunities.

Instructors teach in a variety of learning environments including face-to-face, online, web-conferencing, and hybrid classrooms.

Instructors are expected to continually improve the overall quality and delivery of learning, including the support of program and collegewide initiatives.

Collaborate with the program director to annually update the curriculum that includes Employability Essentials and technical content to meet industry and/or regulatory standards. Collaborate with the program director to plan for instruction, including syllabi development, learning plans, and assessment strategies. Deliver, assess, and adapt effective instruction that meets the needs of all students. Apply a variety of instructional strategies, create learning plans, facilitate learning, and revise teaching practice. Promote a culture of continuing student success, implement strategies to promote learner persistence and meet the needs of all learners, demonstrate learner-centered communication, and utilize available student support services. Conduct performance-based assessment plans, employ a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies, communicate assessment results in a timely fashion to promote student learning, and use assessment results to improve instruction. Demonstrate professional behaviors to support teaching and learning and use varied strategies for managing the learning environment. Collaborate with the program director to review and modify DHS curriculum and prepare syllabi to utilize a quality review process to validate curriculum. Use a variety of data analysis tools, analyze data from teaching and learning experiences, and use data to inform decision making about the teaching and learning process. Create and maintain an inclusive, effective learning environment that addresses barriers and provides reasonable accommodations. May be assigned to mentor high school teachers who offer Northwood Tech-articulated courses. Designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) to receive and report criminal incidents to the Northwood Tech Safety Office by virtue of this role’s responsibilities at the College (only applies to instructor positions with club advising duties). Work with nursing assistant part-time faculty to serve as a peer mentor. Position required the ability to travel and instruct at alternate locations as needed. Flexibility in schedule is required for day, night, or weekend classes as needed. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required: Associate degree in nursing Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of occupational nursing experience of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years of appointment Occupational nursing experience must include one year as a nurse in long-term care Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin Provide a Certificate of Completion of a Nursing Assistant Train-the-Trainer course (or complete the training prior hire). College receipt of approval by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to serve as a nursing assistant instructor prior to hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to obtain driver’s license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing Teaching experience Salary FY27 Salary - Faculty Grade A - $65,790 / year

Requirements

Candidates must hold an associate degree in nursing, a current Wisconsin RN license, and have at least two years of occupational nursing experience, including one year in long-term care. Additionally, applicants must possess or be able to obtain a Nursing Assistant Train-the-Trainer certification and Wisconsin DHS approval.
