Typical DAy as a School Age Assistant Teacher Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing the lesson plan and fun hands-on learning activities. Build relationships with students in your program, and their families. Assist with homework Play games, help kids build friendships, and be a positive role model for students. Serve snacks and lunches and perform some light cleaning to make sure space is clean and inviting. Shift are typically flexible, and staff can expect between 5-28 hours per week depending on availability. Typical shift hours are between 6:30am-9am or 3:00pm-6:00pm-M-F following typical school schedules Requirements for School Age Assistant Teacher job Must have a high school diploma or equivalent An understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior and developmentally appropriate practices. Enroll in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases. (Covered by the YMCA) Warm and friendly personality and the willingness to interact with the children.
