About the role

The Assistant Swim Coach assists in developing, organizing, and implementing the JCC Swim Team under the direction of the Head Coach. Responsibilities include providing competitive swimming instruction, conducting team workouts, and attending swim meets.

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Head Swim Coach, the Assistant Swim Coach, assists in developing, organizing and implementing the JCC Swim Team.

Qualifications

  • 1.
  • 18 years or older 2.
  • Current American Red Cross First Aid Certification 3.
  • Current American Red Cross Community CPR certification, or equivalent 4.
  • One year or more of swim team experience preferred 5.
  • USA Coaching Certification Preferred 6.
  • Ability to teach proper competitive swimming techniques 7.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sound competitive swimming skills, and the ability to implement and teach these skills in a positive healthy manner 8.
  • Knowledge of basic exercise 9.
  • Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability) preferred ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • 1.
  • Provides competitive swimming instruction to swim team members in Novice to Age group swimming groups.
  • 2.
  • Organizes and conducts team workouts.
  • 3.
  • Works effectively with other coaches as assigned.
  • 4.
  • Provides motivation support and guidance.
  • 5.
  • Works hand in hand with the Head Coach.
  • 6.
  • Attends swim meets and swim team functions agreed upon with the Head Coach.
  • Work environment:

The work environment is usually fast paced. This job requires high energy and interaction with swimmers and their parents, other agency staff and members. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.
  • The employee is often required to stand.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years old and hold current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications. Previous swim team experience and USA Coaching Certification are preferred.
