About the role

The substitute teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective educational instruction when the regular teacher is unavailable. They must also collaborate with staff and parents while maintaining accurate administrative records and student progress reports.

Overview Saint Martha Catholic School in Sarasota, Florida is seeking a Substitute Teacher. This position will provide educational instruction to students in assigned age group or subject area for short-term or long-term assignments. Job Responsibilities

Plan and deliver educational instruction using the most efficient and effective methodology for the students assigned when regular teacher is unavailable.

Provide corrective feedback to students and re-teach as necessary, to insure students have mastered the objections.

Collaborate and clearly communicate with parents/guardians and other educators to assist the students.

Implement approved-course curriculum.

Implement modifications in a student’s education plan as required.

Complete written reports and assigned administrative tasks related to these functions as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Florida State Certification (or approved application for Certification)
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of student learning styles
  • Ability to remain calm and pleasant under stressful circumstances
  • Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with staff, students and parents.
  • Strong computer skills.
