General Function The Swim Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes. Education/Experience/Training/Certifications At a minimum, some high school level education (over 16+ years of age)

CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification, and Emergency Oxygen

Current YMCA Swim Instructor certification OR training provided.

Job

Duties & Responsibilities

Instructs swimming lessons and prepares lesson plans according to the YMCA.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with parents and students to connect and inform parents of each other and students’ accomplishments.

Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and refers students and parents to other programs.

Maintains records and attends meetings and trainings as scheduled.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Abilities & Skills Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.

Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average-sized child.

Requirements
