About the role

The Athletic Trainer provides healthcare services to student-athletes, including injury prevention, care, and management of sports-related conditions. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate performance records and ensuring compliance with FHSAA regulations.

  • The Classical Academy of Sarasota is looking to hire an Athletic Trainer (Seasonal/Temporary) for the Fall Semester school year. Please upload the following documents with this application here in ADP:

  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Live a life in accordance with the virtues they teach, even outside of school
  • Demonstrate loyalty to the school and its mission

Overall attitude

  • Willingness to take direction from the school administration
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and school staff
  • Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures in accordance to the Personnel Handbook (i.e. dress code, hours of reporting, etc.)
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the school’s administration
  • All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established or as the result of organizational planning
  • Attends meetings, serves on committees as appropriate, and is present at conferences, open houses, concerts, etc.
  • Maintains professional dress code

Position Summary

Athletic Trainer will provide healthcare services to student-athletes during athletic activities and shall be trained/familiar with best practices for the prevention, care, and management of common sports-related injuries, illness, conditions, and emergency situations.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Comply with the rules and regulations of the FHSAA

Communicate to all participants the policies of the team and athletic department.

Submit forms as required by the FHSAA; i.e., eligibility rosters, players' information etc.

Responsible for following the established procedures for communicating with parents/guardians.

Educates parents, athletes, and the general public regarding injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness, and other health-related issues.

Plan, organize, and implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning in the assigned sport.

Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship; compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records; participate in the awards program(s) according to school procedure.

Follows appropriate protocols, standards, and practices, including those related to blood borne pathogens.

Performs fitting and education regarding crutches, braces, soft goods, etc.

Maintains strict athlete confidentiality.

Qualifications

Required

  • Qualifies as a Healthcare personal as defined by §456.001, F.S., including those licensed under chapter 458 (MD), chapter 459 (DO), chapter 460 (DC), or §464.012, F.S. (ARPN) and chapter 468 (AT), who are in good standing with their regulatory board. Other adjunctive healthcare personnel may include emergency services personnel (EMS) regulated under §401.23, F.S. and lifeguards regulated under §514.071. F.S.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred

  • Registered Athletic Trainer
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer

Background Screening Requirement

Subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting, as required by state law.

Candidacy Process

Candidates being seriously considered for a position will be invited for an extensive interview process. Final out of state candidates will continue the interviews in Florida at their own expense. Candidates will be interviewed by TCA School administration. The candidate may also be required to perform or provide a model lesson.

Requirements

Candidates must be licensed healthcare professionals in good standing, such as an MD, DO, DC, ARPN, or certified Athletic Trainer. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, and candidates must pass a Florida Level 2 background screening.
