About the role

The Teacher's Aide will provide classroom support and supervision to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment for students. Responsibilities include developing teaching aids, assisting with student behavior, and reinforcing subject matter under the guidance of a teacher.

What You'll Do Core responsibilities include: Support and supervision in the classroom, in support of both the individual student and an overall safe and stimulating educational environment.

Utilizing the student profile to proactively plan, preparing, and developing various teaching aids for use in the classroom to support student success, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts.

Providing redirection as needed to support appropriate classroom behaviors.

Supervising and supporting student breaks from the classroom as needed.

Supporting the student in learning to identify and proactively prepare for challenges such as sensory stimuli, social discomfort, etc., and to develop strategies for self-regulating and returning to class.

Presenting and reinforcing class subject matter to the student, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role-playing as needed.

Assisting the student with assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.

In the absence of the teacher, may confer with parents on student progress.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of directly related experience. The role requires strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work effectively with gifted or learning-disabled students.
