Manage caseload of student athletes with documented learning exceptionalities or deemed academically at-risk based on prescreening assessments and/or academic history (these components may be cognitive, non-cognitive, or a combination of both). Caseload support will include (but is not limited to) individual and group sessions to instruct students in evidencebased learning strategies and self-advocacy skills as well as providing intensive academic support. Administer academic prescreening assessments to students as requested; mediate scheduling of students requiring further academic evaluation. Assist in providing documentation for NCAA waivers or UNM admissions purposes. Serve as a liaison to UNM’s Accessibility Resource Center. Collaborate with advising staff to design and implement individualized academic success plans for assigned student-athletes, including academic class scheduling, tutoring, mentoring, and study skills programming. Coordinate and facilitate, in conjunction with advising staff and tutorial coordinator, course and professor specific review sessions for targeted classes Assist in the development of programs aimed at improving retention and graduation rates, facilitate training for tutors, and continually educate advisement staff regarding best practices for students with learning exceptionalities/difficulties. Support in programming offered by summer and fall sections offered by UNM’s Athletic Department. As required, provide written reports to academic advisors, supervisor, and unit director regarding assigned caseload, pre-screening information summaries, recommended programming, and other miscellaneous information as needs arise. Provide educational programming for any student-athlete with academic integrity concerns. Maintain a confidential, professional environment for students, including but not limited to the maintenance and upkeep of confidential, detailed files on all assigned student-athletes. If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required. Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
