About the role

The intern will support the Office of People, Success & Opportunity with daily administrative tasks, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee records maintenance. They will also assist with payroll, compliance initiatives, and special projects to improve office operations.

Description The Office of People, Success & Opportunity Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the day-to-day operations of the College's Office of People, Success & Opportunity. This position will assist with a variety of administrative and employee-focused activities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits, payroll support, employee communications, and special projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining practical experience in higher education administration, employee services, business operations, organizational development, or related fields.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Assist with recruitment and hiring activities for faculty, staff, and student employees. Help prepare and maintain job postings and recruitment materials. Assist with new employee onboarding and tracking completion of required paperwork. Maintain and organize employee records and confidential documentation. Assist with data entry and updating employee information in College systems. Provide administrative support for employee benefits and related communications. Assist with payroll and timekeeping-related tasks, including reviewing information for accuracy. Prepare spreadsheets, reports, forms, and correspondence as assigned. Assist with employee training and compliance initiatives. Support employee engagement activities, events, and communications. Conduct research and assist with special projects related to College operations and employee services. Help identify opportunities to improve office processes and procedures. Provide professional and courteous assistance to employees, supervisors, and students. Maintain confidentiality of employee and College information. Perform other duties as assigned. Other

Requirements

Required Sophomore or higher; class ranking. Experience in HR/ Business preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher Currently enrolled at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Preferred Coursework or interest in business, management, organizational leadership, psychology, communication, or a related field. Previous administrative, customer service, or office experience. Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, or other computer systems. Learning Opportunities Through this internship, the student will have the opportunity to: Gain practical experience working in a higher education administrative office. Learn about the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through employment and separation. Develop professional communication, organization, and administrative skills. Gain exposure to payroll, benefits, employee records, recruitment, and compliance processes. Learn how technology and data are used to support College operations. Develop an understanding of confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace. Build skills applicable to future careers in higher education, business, administration, organizational leadership, and related fields.
