  • Year: 12 months Position Focus The Academic and College Advisor supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive academic and college preparatory guidance program for students and families in grades 9–10, while assisting with academic planning and testing initiatives for middle school students. The Advisor provides academic and college counseling, supports students in developing meaningful post-secondary plans, and serves as a key resource for school-wide testing, Florida Virtual School (FLVS), and student accommodation processes. Through collaboration with students, families, faculty, and the Director of Guidance, the Advisor works to equip students with the knowledge, skills, character, and confidence to pursue God’s plan for their lives beyond graduation. Assist with Upper School events. Middle School Academic Planning & Support Assist the Director with academic planning and counseling initiatives for students in grades 7–8, including course selection, placement processes and assessments, four-year planning, and schedule development. Communicate academic planning, course selection, placement, and testing information to middle school students, families, and faculty. Support the coordination and administration of standardized testing for middle school students, including communicating testing dates, procedures, requirements, and results. Assist with parent meetings, individual student conferences, and 8th Grade High School Prep for Success as needed. High School Academic & College Planning Conduct individual meetings with all students in grades 9–10 each school year to discuss academic progress, graduation planning, course selection, and post-secondary goals. Assist students with course selection, scheduling, goal setting, academic progress, and graduation planning; monitor progress toward graduation requirements. Meet with parents and assist with parent informational meetings regarding academic planning, college preparation, and the college admissions process. Assist the Director of Guidance with guidance events, the Christian College Fair, Guidance Corner social media, and student announcements. Assist the Director of Guidance with Upper School testing to include MAP, AP, PSAT, and Practice ACT. Meet weekly with students on academic probation. Assist Director of Guidance with the master academic schedule. Attend annual professional development conferences. Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Coordinator Serve as the primary point of contact for all FLVS enrollment and coursework for Cambridge Christian students, including course requests, registrations, payments, and withdrawals. Monitor FLVS student progress weekly and proactively communicate concerns regarding pace, assignment completion, or course performance. Student Accommodations Serve as the primary school contact for academic accommodations for students in grades 7–12 who are not enrolled in the Connections program. Coordinate the collection, review, and maintenance of current psychoeducational, medical, and/or other supporting documentation and maintain confidential records, including tracking expiration dates and required annual reviews. Develop and annually review accommodation plans based on current documentation and school policies, obtaining updated documentation as needed. Communicate with families and faculty regarding accommodation eligibility, plans, and implementation, and provide teachers with guidance and support regarding accommodations in the classroom and during assessments. Coordinate requests for standardized testing accommodations through College Board, ACT, and other applicable testing organizations, including gathering documentation, submitting requests, monitoring approvals, and communicating approved accommodations. QualificationsQualifications Bachelor’s Degree required–a Master’s degree in a related educational field preferred–with at least three years of experience in the college admissions field, as either a school-based college counselor or college admission officer. Excellent people skills, detail oriented, organized, and poses strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize projects, work independently, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of high school curriculum and an understanding of adolescent development.
  • Excellent communication skills: clear and fluid writing abilities, a strong public speaking presence, and attentive listening skills. Warm personality, a positive mindset, and a sincere desire to connect and work closely with students. Commitment to building strong, individualized relationships with students and their families. A Christian who is a member of good standing in a Bible-believing church.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's degree preferred, along with at least three years of experience in college admissions or school counseling. Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills and be committed to the school's Christian mission.
