AJCR $1,262-$1,404 per credit hour and in accordance with the adjunct table and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary

Johnson County Community College is seeking qualified applicants for part-time teaching assignments in the Communication Studies Department beginning spring 2027. Instructors are needed for teaching on-campus, face-to-face classes. The current need is for morning and early afternoon classes. Online course assignments are not available for this position.

Classes may include Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Personal Communication and Workplace Skills. Candidates must have the ability to use the Canvas LMS for syllabus and grades.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Communication Studies, Communication, Speech, or Speech Communication is required.
  • Computer literacy including ability to communicate, develop teaching materials and enter grades electronically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors and community.
  • Demonstrated strong teaching ability.
  • One or more years of college teaching experience in the Communication Studies discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Communication Studies, Communication, Speech or Speech Communication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the teaching mission of a comprehensive community college preferred.
  • Community College teaching experience.
