Under the supervision of the Library Director, the incumbent will be responsible for general library functions, student placement and record keeping, and purchasing necessary library items. The Assistant Library Director will work with other departments to perform job duties and must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. The Assistant Library Director will meet academic and professional qualifications, demonstrate dedication to academic excellence and student-centered education, and will support the mission and objectives of the Bay Mills Community College.
Responsible for the general circulation of library materials including maintaining and updating software used to track circulation, patrons, and library usage. The statistics will be compiled as needed for necessary reporting. Responsible for administering tests to students requiring accommodations and maintaining a quiet testing space. Tracking and recording funds collected by the library and turning the proceeds over to the cashier for deposit. Providing assistance to all library patrons and BMCC students. Administering student placement tests to determine accurate class placement recommendations. Overseeing the library work study schedule and duties. Cataloging library materials and creating MARC records for the library materials in accordance with the Library of Congress standards. Opening and closing the library in a timely and consistent manner. Monitoring library floor activities and providing a quiet library atmosphere for all patrons. Performs other assigned duties necessary for proper library function, or as directed by the Library Director.
