About the role

The RBT will implement behavior intervention plans and provide one-on-one support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a classroom setting. They are responsible for collecting accurate behavioral data and collaborating with the school team to foster a supportive learning environment.

*Please note, this is a year-round school program.

Gersh Autism is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our team.

As an RBT, you will work directly with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

You will provide one-on-one instruction, behavioral support, and social skills training to help students achieve their individualized goals.

This position requires strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of students with ASD.

Key Responsibilities: Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized education plans (IEPs) as developed by the BCBA.

Provide direct one-on-one or small group support to students in the classroom and other school settings.

Collect and record accurate data on student behaviors and progress, ensuring timely and detailed documentation.

Assist in the implementation of teaching strategies to support academic, social, and behavioral development.

Conduct behavior management and intervention strategies to decrease challenging behaviors and increase adaptive behaviors.

Support students with daily living skills, including communication, self-regulation, and independence-building tasks.

Collaborate with the teaching staff and other members of the school team to create a supportive learning environment.

Participate in ongoing professional development and RBT supervision sessions with the BCBA.

Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all aspects of the position.

Required Qualifications: Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification (must have an active RBT certification to qualify for the RBT position) High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred).

Prior experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or in a special education setting.

Ability to implement behavior intervention plans and collect data in accordance with the guidance of a BCBA.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work well within a team and interact professionally with students, families, and colleagues.

Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with students with special needs.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow all school policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a school-based setting. Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and provide individualized support to students.

Requirements: Must be able to keep students safe from themselves and others and, in some cases, may need to implement CPI (therapeutic holds) procedures. Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations and, in some cases, be able to lift a child. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday Ability to lift (at least 50-65 pounds), assist, and/or physically support students, which may include lifting or guiding students of varying sizes Ability to physically intervene when required to ensure safety (per CPI training) Ability to remove oneself and/or others from unsafe situations quickly Ability to maintain attention and focus in a dynamic, high-stimulation environment Ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making, particularly in high-pressure or safety-sensitive situations Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain professional relationships Ability to perform duties under stress, including during behavioral escalations

Location: Issaquah, WA Monday –

Friday / 8:00am – 3:30pm Occasional before and after school work hours at the discretion of the Administrative staff School / Classroom setting This is a 12-month school program

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and possess at least a high school diploma. Prior experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder or in a special education setting is required.
