About the role

The assistant coach will instruct and mentor student-athletes in the Men's Rowing program while evaluating skills and creating training plans. They will also assist with scouting, practice planning, and ensuring safety during all water and land-based activities.

Part-Time Assistant Intercollegiate Coach/Instructor – Men’s Rowing Time Type: Part time Position Summary and Qualifications: Part-Time Assistant Coach/Instructor participates in coaching and instructing student-athletes who are members of the university’s intercollegiate Men’s Rowing program. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Coach/instruct student-athletes in the Men’s Rowing Program. Evaluate student-athlete skills; create and execute appropriate lessons/plans to develop those skills through hands-on instruction. Provide regular feedback to student-athletes about their athletic performance. Participate in scouting; assist with practice and race planning. Work collaboratively with the head and assistant coaches, as well as the team support staff to mentor and develop student-athletes on and off the water. Ensure that appropriate safety precautions are taken during training and racing. Recruiting - on an occasional basis

Minimum Qualifications

Required Bachelor’s degree Must have strong interpersonal skills including good oral and written communication abilities An inclusive and servant approach to leadership Preferred Intercollegiate rowing or coaching experience Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Ability to participate and/or demonstrate drills Some travel, nights and weekends related to competition Notice to Out of State Applicants: Saint Joseph’s University may only consider applicants from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York (not including New York City zip codes), and Delaware (Delaware residents must regularly be present for over 50% of work time on an SJU campus). If an employee must relocate to meet these conditions, financial assistance may be available but is not guaranteed. Pay Transparency: Part-time coaches' compensation is evaluated based on the number of hours worked per week, the amount of semesters worked, and the level of responsibilities expected. Based on these factors, part-time coaches may expect compensation that could range between approximately $1,000-$3,500 for the semester or the season. The final compensation recommendation is will be made in consultation of the Head Coach and Sport Administrator. Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Previous intercollegiate rowing or coaching experience is preferred.
