The JV Head Coach is responsible for directing the team, developing practice plans, and executing game day strategies under the supervision of the Program Director. They must also mentor assistant coaches, communicate effectively with parents, and ensure the enforcement of school core values.
Holds interest meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport Attends all preseason and postseason individual meetings with the Athletic Director as well as staff development leadership seminars led by the Athletic Department (56 in person or virtual meetings per school year) Develops a regular practice plan and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students athletic abilities on an ongoing basis Develop and execute game day strategy based on the teams capabilities Mentor, support and empower assistant coach(es) by including them in the practice/game planning process and overall management of the team. Ensure core values of Cannon School are consistently presented and enforced Support of multisport participation for student-athletes Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for studentathletes Establish an effective communication strategy for parents and students Adhere to the policies, procedures, and guiding principles of the Cannon School Athletic Handbook Work in tandem with Athletic Training staff to properly handle injury prevention and treatment Must be able to arrive at least an hour before the start of competitions and on time daily for practice. Coaches are responsible for game day setup (assure field/court is setup according to rules and regulations of the sport) Display a willingness to grow and develop through coaching clinics, seminars and observation with feedback Abide by the rules of the NCISAA QualificationsA minimum of 1year of coaching experience at the middle or high school level or 3 years of playing experience at the high school level or above.
