Practice for this role

About the role

The associate will develop and implement curriculum for 9th-grade students and provide individualized support during their transition to high school. Responsibilities include facilitating in-person workshops, conducting office hours, and maintaining regular contact with students and families.

Description ABOUT BREAKTHROUGH SUMMERBRIDGE AND THE COLLEGE ACCESS PROGRAM Founded in 1978 at San Francisco University High School, Breakthrough Summerbridge (BTSB) is an intensive academic enrichment and advocacy program.

Through our middle school programming, we prepare ambitious students from under-resourced circumstances to enter and thrive in well-matched high schools, for the purpose of securing admission to, succeeding in, and graduating from college.

More recently, we have expanded our programming, through the creation of our College Access Program, to include high schoolers.

The Breakthrough Summerbridge College Access Program (CAP) is a four-year (9th-12th grade) college access enrichment program that broadens access to information and resources regarding college admissions for BTSB students who have successfully completed our middle school program.

CAP works directly with students and families as an additional resource for college preparedness and admissions.

About the Position

The College Access Program Associate supports the Program and College Access Manager (PCAM) in the development and implementation of programming for our high school freshman during the school year. The Associate will leverage their own experience and knowledge to create programming, and provide individualized support to students as they transition into high school. This is a part-time role that combines synchronous work (facilitating in-person student-facing workshops and other programming, meeting individually with students and families, attending meetings and check-ins), with independent, project-based work (creating and updating resources, preparing for workshops, doing student/family outreach, tracking student outcomes and data).
