About the role

The academic mentor fosters student success by teaching essential skills such as reading, writing, time-management, and test-taking. Mentors conduct sessions to help students develop assignment completion plans and apply effective academic strategies.

The role of the academic mentor is to foster the academic skills of students with varying levels of academic ability. The skill-building focus of mentors will include the five BullsLearn Academic Skills: Reading, Writing, Time-Management/Organization, Note-Taking, and Study/Test-Taking skills. Mentor sessions will emphasize the development of time-management/organization skills and prepare students to effectively complete assignments. Using advised learning and academic strategies, students will have additional time in sessions to apply their assignment completion plan.

Requirements

The minimum requirement for this position is a bachelor's degree or four years of equivalent direct experience. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in mentorship roles within educational or collegiate sports settings.
