The Child Care Teacher is responsible for managing the classroom environment and providing a nurturing, safe space that supports the social, emotional, and intellectual development of children. Attends in-service training or educational meetings as required. Qualifications Must be of at least 18 years of age, in accordance with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). High School Diploma or GED is required. Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with fluent understanding of English. Must have experience teaching in an early childhood setting. Must have completed a minimum of 12 college hours of early childhood coursework; an Associates’ Degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, or Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Must display a full understanding and effective application of developmentally appropriate classroom management skills for an Early Childhood setting. Current CPR and First Aid certification is required within 30 days of hire date. Must have a full understanding and effective application of State licensing regulations for a childcare setting. Must have certification of attendance in classes for Child Abuse and Neglect, Signs and Symptoms of Illness within 30 days of hire date. Must have ABC sleep certificate within 30 days of hire date. Must demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound, independent judgement where procedures cannot be standardized. Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
