The Special Education Teacher will develop and implement personalized learning approaches to support students with special needs while maintaining accurate records and progress reports. They are responsible for creating an engaging classroom environment and collaborating with district specialists to evaluate student capabilities and growth.

POSITION OVERVIEW As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education as you connect and work one-on-one with students needing special support to understand both their capabilities and disabilities as you develop and apply personalized learning approaches and programs that support their growth, progress, and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best.

Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success!

Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media; consistent with the physical limitations of the provided location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals involved.

The Special Education Teacher assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Recognizes and evaluates the learning and other disabilities of students on a regular basis; seeks the assistance or referral of district specialists as required.

Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

Explore individual needs and give side-by-side support to discover how each student best learns and develop personalized solutions to each students’ learning style and abilities.

Master our proven curriculum as you implement our philosophy of education and guide the learning process and students toward the achievement of the curriculum goals.

The Special Education Teacher evaluates each student’s learning capabilities and celebrates student accomplishments, Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.

The Special Education Teacher is an active role requiring lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Bachelor’s degree.

A current special education certification with proper endorsement(s) according to state and federal standards.

The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Two plus years SPED Teaching experience and proven proficiency and experience in the subject of focus and specialty area of this position.

Duties are performed typically in school and/or office settings throughout the division.

May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.

Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and a current special education certification with appropriate endorsements. A minimum of two years of teaching experience in special education is preferred, and the role requires passing a criminal history background check.
