The Education Compliance Specialist monitors early childhood classrooms to ensure adherence to Head Start and state regulatory standards. They provide technical assistance to staff and analyze data to drive program improvements and maintain safe learning environments.

The position provides data, guidance, support, and technical assistance to Teachers and program staff to promote compliance with applicable Head Start Program Performance Standards, California Department of Education and California Department of Social Services requirements, Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements, and Community Care Licensing regulations.

1. Monitor classrooms and centers using internal and prescribed external monitoring tools. Collect, aggregate and analyze data in order to inform general compliance and improvement plans. 2. Provide technical assistance to Teachers and Center Directors regarding compliance with Early/Head Start Performance Standards, California Department of Education/California Department of Social Services Funding Terms and Conditions, and Community Care Licensing, primarily within the area of Education. 3. Participate in regular education related monitoring, analysis, and program improvement plans. 4. Support the implementation of Creative Curriculum by providing specific technical assistance to classrooms through use of the agency’s internal monitoring tool. 5. In collaboration with Education Coaches, support teachers in creating and maintaining stimulating, organized, and inviting learning environments in the classroom and in outdoor play areas through data-informed outcomes. 6. Support classroom Health and Safety requirements according to Community Care Licensing, Head Start Performance Standards, and California Department of Education/California Department of Social Services regulations. 7. Monitor classroom materials, equipment and indoor/outdoor facilities to ensure safety, performing and/or requesting maintenance as required. 8. Support the Education team by providing data and reporting, as requested. 9. Participate in meetings, classes, and trainings, as needed. 10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidates must hold at least an Associate degree in Child Development or a related field and possess experience working with diverse populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
