Now Hiring Entry Level Swim Instructors at the YMCA YMCA Employee Benefits FREE Family Membership & Discounted Access to Programs Flexible Scheduling Family-friendly Work Environment Employee Assistance Program & Retirement Plan General Function The Entry Level Swim Instructor shadows and assists with instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications At a minimum, some high school level education (over 16+ years of age) CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification, and Emergency Oxygen from the Red Cross Obtains YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent at the first certification course offered by the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit after hire.

Duties & Responsibilities

Shadows and prepares swimming lessons according tto he YMCA guidelines Builds authentic relationships with students and parents Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules as appropriate Maintains records as required and attends staff meetings and trainings Performs other assigned duties as directed by the supervisor Abilities & Skills Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques. Requirements

Candidates must be at least 16 years old with some high school education and possess current CPR, AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications. The role requires the ability to lift equipment and small children, as well as obtaining a YMCA Swim Instructor certification after hire.
