Assist with the daily activities of students, providing a safe, positive and stimulating learning environment. Perform various routine procedures such as positioning, diapering and feeding the students. Maintain the classroom in a clean and orderly condition. Maintain necessary records on students (e.g. data sheets, position charts, toileting charts, medication sheets, etc.). Adhere to the principles of the LIFESPAN ChOICES Training Curriculum. Ensure that the students are engaged and supervised at all times; interact with the students with eye contact, smile, handshake, pat on the back, etc. in a positive, polite and respectful way. Follow the daily schedule. Communicate professionally with all students, parents, visitors, coworkers, case managers, etc. Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all LIFESPAN safety standards and regulations. Collects data to document individual student progress on IEP/IFSP goals. Participate in professional conferences, training programs and continuing education as required. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 40 pounds. One year of experience in a child care setting or working with special education students is preferred.
