About the role

The LEAP Proctor is responsible for preparing testing environments, greeting students, and ensuring the integrity of test administration. They must also maintain a quiet, orderly atmosphere and handle post-test documentation and material storage.

Ravenscroft School is seeking an Upper School Learning Enrichment and Advancement Program (LEAP) Proctor to join our community of educators who actively strive to be diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, 10-month position following the academic calendar (August–June), scheduled for approximately 20 hours per week.

Candidates should demonstrate empathy, knowledge, and an understanding of the diverse backgrounds in our community; place importance on genuine and authentic connections with students, faculty, staff, and parents; be able to work collaboratively with team members of diverse backgrounds; and have the capacity to model an attitude of unyielding curiosity and a growth mindset. The successful candidate will be a kind and compassionate professional with strong organizational skills and a love of working with adolescents.

What You'll Do

Pre-Test Preparation

  • eview testing procedures and guidelines provided by the testing organization
  • Prepare the testing room by arranging desks and ensuring adequate lighting and ventilation
  • Check the availability of all necessary testing materials, such as test booklets, answer sheets, pencils, mints, timers, and calculators
  • Ensure the testing center remains clean and organized between all sessions

Test Administration

  • Greet students and verify their identification
  • Ensure students only have needed materials for the testing session (writing implements, calculator if permitted, etc.)
  • For computer-administered tests, ensure students' computer screens remain visible (students may turn their desks as needed)
  • Distribute test materials according to instructions
  • Record testing start and end times in the Testing Notebook and the Testing Master Accommodation Tracker (digital), per direction of the teacher of record
  • Monitor students during the test to ensure they follow all rules and regulations
  • Answer student questions about test procedures, while avoiding any assistance with test content
  • Maintain a quiet and orderly testing environment
  • Collect completed test materials and ensure they are securely stored

Post-Test Procedures

  • Complete any necessary paperwork and documentation
  • Return testing materials to the appropriate location
  • Report any irregularities or issues to the designated authority
  • Sharpen pencils daily and restock paper
  • Ensure all tests are returned to the outbox return tray

Work environment and physical demands

This role is based on Ravenscroft's campus and involves working primarily in testing rooms and shared office space within the Upper School. The position requires the ability to move between testing locations, stand and walk for extended periods while monitoring sessions, and lift and move testing materials up to 20 pounds. Availability may vary by testing schedule, occasionally including early morning or midday hours. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and possess excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Google Suite and the ability to remain calm and focused in a dynamic educational environment are required.
