  • Shift: DayWork hand-in-hand with the Teacher and related service staff; follow the Teachers instructions and model; integrates the interdisciplinary teams input for instruction, behavior management, and language facilitation. Assist the Teacher in all activities necessary to support student attainment of IEP goals, including daily program planning and physical environment organization. Performs all classroom and school-wide duties pertaining to organization, maintenance, and instruction of his/her classroom and module. Participates as a classroom and interdisciplinary team member, as well as in other teams as determined by the Principal. Participates in all relevant meetings (team, department, staff, module, etc.) and other school functions or activities (e.g. Open School Night) as assigned by Teacher, Supervisor or Principal. Supervises the class when the Teacher must leave the room for a short period of time. Comply with regulatory requirements and school policy and procedures in all areas. Assists in maintaining appropriate documentation as specified according to program and regulatory compliance. Submits all required paperwork in a timely fashion as designated by the Teacher or Educational Supervisor. Maintain an appropriate and effective interpersonal relationships with team and department members, parents, other staff, supervisors, administrators, and outside agencies. Demonstrate Open communication, flexibility and the ability to learn and utilize team building strategies The ability to self-evaluate, to utilize supervision and problem solve The ability to both offer and accept assistance to/from others. Perform other duties assigned. QualificationsCommunication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word. Conceptual Thinking - Ability to think in terms of abstract ideas. Interpersonal - Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals. Relationship Building - Ability to effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers. Reliability - The trait of being dependable and trustworthy. Responsible - Ability to be held accountable or answerable for ones conduct. Team Building - Ability to convince a group of people to work toward a goal. Tolerance - Ability to work successfully with a variety of people without making judgments. Education High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Skills & Ability Certificates & Licenses Possession of New York State Continuing Teaching Assistant Certification or Level I, Level II or Level III New York State Certified Teaching Assistant Certification. Requirements

Candidates must possess a New York State Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I, II, III, or Continuing). A High School Diploma or GED is required, and experience in early childhood education is preferred.
