About the role

The Lead Teacher is responsible for preparing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans while maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment. They must also manage child assessments, maintain portfolios, and establish professional rapport with families through regular communication.

Wilmington Preschool of the Arts is a licensed childcare center seeking Lead Teachers!

Age groups: Toddlers To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a high school diploma OR GED, AA in ECE or higher and the ability to pass all background checks.

A plus if you have previous childcare experience!

Required Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm Compensation: $16-18/hr; based on education and experience.

Our Hiring Process: Resume screen Phone screen with recruiter (30 minutes) On-site interview with Center Director (30-60 minutes) Q&A Classroom observation Offer Main Job Responsibilities: Prepare lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate one week in advance using current curriculum guides.

Implement lesson plans/curriculum on a weekly basis covering all areas of child development and carry out lesson plans according to classroom schedule/daily routine; Use our parent communication app efficiently.

Establish a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.

Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child, responding to their emotional needs; and maintaining an organized, clean, safe, and appropriately decorated classroom.

Maintain a child assessment and portfolio for each child, as well as conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences during the month of November and May.

Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.

Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the care of the children.
