Description Freedom Academy is seeking a passionate, student-centered Reading Interventionist to provide targeted literacy instruction for K–8 students who need additional support in foundational reading skills, fluency, and comprehension. This position is ideal for an educator who loves helping struggling readers experience real progress — and who understands that effective intervention requires more than encouragement. It requires strong instruction, careful progress monitoring, collaboration, consistency, and a belief that students can grow when they are given the right support. The Reading Interventionist will work closely with classroom teachers, Special Education staff, English Learner staff, and school leadership to identify student needs, provide evidence-based intervention, monitor growth, and strengthen literacy outcomes across the school.

Provide targeted small-group reading intervention for students in grades K–8. Deliver explicit, systematic literacy instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Use assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify student needs, measure growth, and adjust instruction. Collaborate with classroom teachers, Special Education staff, English Learner staff, and school leadership to strengthen student literacy outcomes. Participate in MTSS/RTI meetings and contribute to intervention planning, documentation, and student support decisions. Support school-wide literacy initiatives while helping students develop confidence, persistence, and a genuine love of reading.
We’re Looking For Someone Who: Holds a bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field. Has experience teaching reading, literacy, or providing academic intervention. Understands evidence-based approaches to foundational reading instruction. Can analyze student assessment data and translate that data into effective instructional decisions. Builds strong, encouraging relationships with students while maintaining high academic expectations. Is organized and consistent in maintaining intervention records, progress-monitoring data, and required documentation. Works collaboratively with classroom teachers, Special Education teams, English Learner teams, and school leadership. Is familiar with MTSS/RTI frameworks and supporting students with reading disabilities or learning differences. Is willing to participate fully in staff meetings, professional development, training, and the broader life and culture of the school. Arizona Teaching Certification, a Reading Endorsement, specialized literacy training, and familiarity with NWEA MAP or similar assessment systems are preferred.
