  • Type: Part TimeBE A PART OF SOMETHING GREAT This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The School Age Teacher is responsible for the health, safety, welfare, and personal growth of each youth, ages 5-12 within a 1:18 ratio. The School Age Teacher shall plan, implement, supervise & evaluate recreational activities daily to provide adventure, enjoyment, and develop social skills and interests in youth. WHAT YOU'LL DO Follow abuse prevention policies. Complete required safety training. Maintain appropriate boundaries. Comply with mandated reporting requirements. Builds healthy, nurturing relationships with all the children. Assist the Site Director in planning and implementing curriculum-based activities. The School Age Teacher shall act as the Site Director when the Site Director is not on site. Arrive to work dressed properly with appropriate uniform and name tag. Sign In/Out accurately and approve time sheet according to deadlines set on payroll schedule. Plan, conduct, and participate in recreational activities with the group. Ensure health and safety of each youth. Greet parents upon arrival pick up/drop off. Maintain site, equipment, and supplies. Assist with the supervision of guest teachers/intern, if applicable. Prepare provided food daily. Ensure all children are accounted for including youth in extra-curricular activities. Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled. Sub at other School Age sites or in the Early Childhood Program as necessary. Other duties as assigned by the Site director. Ensure flyers are distributed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be 18 years old Required to keep Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED Certificate current Must have 240 hrs. experience as Assistant Teacher in a group childcare center Must meet Wisconsin state licensing qualifications as a childcare teacher/lead teacher Experience working with children Willingness to learn state licensing childcare regulations and procedures for Group Day Care Centers Ability to work cooperatively with youth, parents, staff and community organizations Ability to work with general supervision Maintain a valid driver’s license Background check cannot contain offenses restricted by state law

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess current Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Applicants are required to have at least 240 hours of experience as an assistant teacher in a group childcare center and meet Wisconsin state licensing qualifications.
