  • Summary: This position is responsible for admissions and student affairs services for the Geisinger College of Health Sciences. For admissions the position is responsible for recruiting and educating potential students about programs offered at Geisinger College of Health Sciences. Recruitment for and education regarding the school is done through attendance at high school and college fairs, national conferences, and individual school visits. The coordinator works directly with high school and undergraduate advisors to assist students with preparing for higher education.

For student affairs this position is charged with development and implementation for programs and policies to support this mission critical area in student affairs for the Geisinger College of Health Sciences. In this role, the position will support creating an environment to assist students in engagement, retention, and accreditation related areas and to develop lifelong skills for achieving and success in their chosen academic field. The position will oversee orientation, student engagement and leadership programs, and services to create a positive and supportive environment that enhances the personal development, learning, educational success, and career preparation of all students. Job Duties: Admissions

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Utilizes all admission information systems for the processing of admission inquiries through matriculation for the programs offered at GCHS. 2. Assists in the development of admission recruitment plans and executes them to support institutional goals. 3. Manages and participates in all aspects of recruitment for GCHS programs. Maintain appropriate contact and outreach with high school and undergraduate advisors and potential GCHS students. Attend high school and college fairs, conferences, open houses, and visit individual colleges and universities to recruit potential GCHS students. Develop travel plans and coordinate meetings with prospective students and high school and higher education advisors. Answer student inquiries and questions as needed. Meet with prospective students for individual recruitment appointments. Work closely with the Chief Diversity Officer to ensure the School’s diversity mission is included in recruitment efforts including but not limited to holding workshops for high school and undergraduate students on how to prepare for higher education. 4. Manages the campus visits and tours for prospective students, institutions, and community members. 5. Leads the sessions with prospective students and assists with and participates in the overall execution of the events. 6. Leads the creation, deployment and development of Recruitment Days. 7. Manages the screening process for assigned applicants which includes the following: Review admission applications, official transcripts and other documents required for completion of file. Review completed applications. Read and evaluate applicant credentials to determine if candidate should be further reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Apply holistic review policy to the evaluation of applicants. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA policies. Participate in necessary training including software, holistic review and overview of the application process. 8. Plans and organizes regional open houses and campus tours, schedules campus tour dates, individual school visits and appointments in conjunction with other members of the Admissions team. Assists in the implementation of all admissions on-campus recruitment events. 9. Assists with the credentialing processes for incoming students. 10. Participates in strategic planning efforts for Admissions, Registrar and Financial Aid and other areas as they relate to students. Student Affairs

Duties and Responsibilities

11. Manages the School of Nursing Orientation Program Facilitate onboarding of new students into the school of nursing and ensure each student completes prematriculation requirements Develop Student Affairs materials and schedule from pre-matriculation page and social media through completion of orientation Coordinate with Faculty, Safety/Security, Library, IT and others who participate in Orientation Facilitate all Student Affairs components of orientation including registration, food orders, room reservations, badge photos and GCSOM welcome bags 12. Manages oversight of student engagement activities, leadership development initiatives and all nursing clubs/organizations to enhance the quality of student life Assist students in organizing educational, cultural, social and wellness activities in conjunction with the Center for Student Life and Wellness Collaborate with the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) advisor to hold annual elections Assist the Sigma – Chi Alpha Chapter Advisor to send out invitations to qualifying students at least once a year and assist with inductions Chair the Student Affairs Committee which will include student government from the Student Nurses Association, faculty, and staff to provide a formal platform for students to communicate directly with faculty, staff, and administration regarding their experiences 13. Office of Student Affairs Operations leader with auxiliary services Partner with Marketing and Public Relations for the approval process of various marketing files and media requests/needs for community wide and student social/fundraising events Collaborate with Facilities, ITS, and Food Services to create successful community wide and student social/fundraising events 14. Manages the School of Nursing Program Student Affairs Support for students Manage the day-to-day operations of the Student Affairs Office including all matters related to student services, compliance, student activities, leadership development and career planning Collaborate with faculty, academic advisers, and staff to identify students in need and provide referral services including the Center for Learning Excellence, Accessibility Services, Student Health, CARE Team and resources to allow them to be successful Communicate Student Affairs information with nursing students, staff, and faculty on a regular basis through listservs, pre-matriculation emails, and other marketing efforts including communications plans. Coordinate with the Faculty Advisor to the Student Government and Student Nurses Association Work collaboratively with elected student leadership and the general assembly Assist in setting goals, agendas for meetings and ensuring all officers are meeting the expectations and responsibilities for which they were elected for Serve as the liaison for administration with student leadership related to policy development, accreditation needs, curricular and student affairs initiatives 15. Coordinates student wellbeing programming and proactive student support initiatives to enhance student success, engagement, and access to resources. Plan, organize, and support student wellbeing events and programs in collaboration with institutional and community partners to promote student wellness, resilience, and academic success. Assist with development, implementation, and assessment of wellness initiatives that address students’ social, emotional and academic needs. Conduct Solo sessions with students each semester to foster meaningful connections, assess individual needs, and connect students with appropriate academic, wellness, and support services. Maintain accurate records of student outreach, referrals, and follow-up activities while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to institutional policies. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student support offices to identify students who may benefit from additional resources and facilitate timely referrals and interventions. 16. Serves on GCHS committees as appointed and prepares reports, proposals and related correspondence as required. Work is typically performed in an office environment.
