The Instructional Designer II works with faculty and other content experts to create robust and interactive online courses for moderately complex credit and non-credit courses using sound online pedagogy under minimal supervision. Works one-on-one with faculty member to identify course learning objectives, teaching methodologies, assessment tools, and other parameters necessary for development of basic courses. May provide minimal mentorship to lower-level Instructional Designers on technical aspects of course development and implementation.

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience; OR master’s degree and some instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience.

Must clear the fingerprint/background check required by the Alabama State Department of Education for work with the ACCESS Virtual Learning Initiative.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand, implement, and train others in web/new media content preparation, presentation and production. Ability to implement instructional technology tools for online content preparation, presentation and production. Ability to work with clientele and translate their instructional technology needs.

Experience in virtual learning technology in higher education or K-12 environments with knowledge of learning management system Schoology. Experience in teaching, training, multimedia authoring, curriculum development, website development, or IT experience.
