UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Onsite Health Educator I to support the Life Solutions team!
This is a hybrid position that combines remote work, time spent in the office at the U.S.
Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh, and regular travel.
The role primarily works Monday through Friday during standard daylight hours, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
In this role, you will regularly travel to client locations throughout the Pittsburgh area and surrounding communities, with local travel expected multiple times per week.
Occasional regional travel within the tri-state area may also be required, and infrequent travel beyond the region may be necessary from time to time.
You will work closely with clients to deliver health education and wellness programming while serving as a trusted resource for health promotion initiatives and employee well-being.
The Onsite Health Educator I serves within the Health Plan's health promotion department.
The Onsite Health Educator I functions mainly to provide support for health screenings.
Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan and coordinate events biometric screening events for employers and community groups.
The Onsite Health Educator I performs health screening measures (such as body mass index and blood pressure) and uses behavior change strategies to review health screening results with participants.
Considers participants’ lifestyle and chronic disease risks and provides education, accountability or referrals based on readiness to change.
Proven administrative abilities, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision required. Facilitate member education sessions related to health and wellness. Assist with: planning, coordinate, implement, facilitate and evaluate employer health promotion programs. Perform education and evaluation of readiness to change on biometric screening results, including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, body mass index and other clinical measures. Observably demonstrates commitment to a healthy and balanced lifestyle in regard to physical activity, healthy eating, stress management, weight management and is a nonsmoker. Identify and engage key stakeholders to successfully accomplish shared strategies and objectives on a continual, intermittent, or temporary basis. Works collaboratively within interdepartmental and interdisciplinary teams. Adheres to standard of dress based upon client/service. Effectively manage internal/external clients by articulating value of services, adhering to role scope, directing questions and communications through appropriate channels and building/maintaining rapport while establishing boundaries. Improve and increase professional capacity through internal and external courses, training opportunities, and/or maintaining certifications. Exhibit a presence that serves as a basis for exemplifying all UPMC values. Understand member readiness to change and correctly refer to appropriate health enhancement programs and services. Maximize member engagement through efficient and effective communication, establishing trust, building rapport, empowering members, providing appropriate resources. Performs all duties within the policies and procedures of the UPMC Health System and applicable regulatory standards such as HIPAA. Uses allotted time for member engagement in a way that increases awareness, knowledge, and motivation of members. Facilitate collaboration between external health resources and UPMC Health Plan. Develops and maintains knowledge of site-specific, UPMC and community-based health and wellness resources.
