The Vocational Counselor provides individualized employment services to individuals with disabilities throughout Culpeper and surrounding communities.
This is a field-based position that combines career counseling, job development, employment coaching, employer engagement, and ongoing support to help individuals obtain and maintain competitive employment.
You'll work with individuals from the beginning of their employment journey through job placement and beyond—helping them build the skills, confidence, and connections needed for long-term success.
What You'll Do Career Planning & Employment Support Identify individuals' strengths, interests, abilities, and career goals.
Develop individualized employment plans based on each person's goals and needs.
Provide career exploration and employment readiness support.
Assist with resumes, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.
Provide individualized job coaching and follow-up support.
Help individuals develop skills that promote long-term employment success.
Employer & Community Engagement Build relationships with local businesses and community employers.
Identify and develop employment opportunities that match individuals' skills and career interests.
Educate employers about inclusive hiring practices and workplace accommodations.
Develop partnerships with community organizations, referral sources, and service providers.
Serve as a professional liaison between individuals and employers.
Documentation & Case Management Maintain accurate and timely case notes, service records, and employment documentation.
Monitor individual progress toward employment goals.
Track employment outcomes and provide follow-up services.
Maintain compliance with company policies, program requirements, and applicable standards.
Manage multiple priorities and an assigned caseload effectively.
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, organized, and genuinely passionate about helping others achieve their goals.
High school diploma or GED. At least two years of relevant professional or lived experience supporting individuals in employment, education, human services, disability services, or related settings. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently in a field-based environment. Passion for supporting individuals with disabilities. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area. Ability to successfully complete required background screenings.
