The coordinator will guide individualized transition planning for blind and visually impaired students to support their work readiness and independent living skills. They will also establish relationships with local employers to secure meaningful work-based learning and employment opportunities for students.

Help Students Turn Their Next Steps Into Real Opportunities The Arc of Ocean County is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated High School Transition Coordinator Advisor to support 85 to 100 blind and visually impaired high school students through the EDGE Program. In this role, you will help young people prepare for employment, post-secondary education, and greater independence as they move toward adulthood. You’ll serve as a connection point between students, families, schools, employers, and community organizations—helping students identify their goals, build practical skills, gain work-based experience, and develop the confidence to pursue their futures.

Position Details

Schedule: Flexible schedule with remote work opportunities Work Setting: Community based position Additional Hours: Some evenings and occasional Saturdays required Position Focus: Individualized transition services for 85 to 100 blind and visually impaired high school students Where You'll Make an ImpactStudent Development & Transition Planning Guide individualized transition planning and ongoing support for 85 to 100 blind and visually impaired high school students. Help students strengthen work readiness, independent living, and self-advocacy skills. Support job exploration and career planning activities. Help students participate in work-based learning experiences. Assist students with planning for post-secondary education and the transition beyond high school. Career Preparation & Employment Connections Establish relationships with local employers to uncover meaningful employment opportunities for students. Coordinate EDGE 1.0 student placement activities in partnership with the EDGE Employer Engagement Placement Officer. Create and oversee Career Focus Placement Plans for EDGE 1.0 students. Help students prepare for career opportunities through resume development, cover and thank-you letters, interview preparation, networking skills, and job exploration. Support students pursuing competitive integrated employment placements and stipend opportunities. Partnerships, Communication & Records Work collaboratively with schools, families, employers, and community partners to promote successful outcomes for students. Maintain complete and accurate student documentation and records. Manage multiple student needs and priorities while working independently and maintaining strong relationships with those involved in each student's transition. What You Bring to the Role Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Human Services, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, or a related field preferred. Required Experience & Skills Proven experience with those who experience blindness or vision impairment. Highly proficient in Microsoft and web applications. Experience with visual aids and accessibility technology preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple students and priorities. Valid driver's license or reliable transportation required.
