CORE RESPONSIBILITIES • IEP Development & Compliance

  • Assist in writing and developing appropriate IEPs/EPs, complete all eligibility and placement forms, and ensure strict adherence to IDEA, Section 504, and state mandates.

  • Consultation: Adapt lessons and provide consultative or direct instructional support to general education teachers and students with disabilities in accordance with individual IEPs.

  • Representation: Serve as the LEA representative in IEP/EP team meetings, mediations, and due process hearings; update campus leadership on policy changes.

  • Behavior: Uphold a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student character and social-emotional development.

  • Partnership: Maintain transparent, trust-based relationships with families; educate and collaborate with teachers and support staff on IEP implementation.

  • Integration: Dedicate 40+ hours per week at school, participating in ESE department trainings, campus check-ins, and school functions.

Key qualifications

Required

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited four-year institution.

Certification: Active Florida Teaching Certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) or at least one specific area of exceptionality.

Knowledge &

Skills: Expert understanding of the referral, evaluation, and placement process; demonstrated ability to write compliant IEPs and manage student behavior.

Compliance: Successful completion of a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Exceptional Student Education or Special Education (eligible for salary supplement).
  • Prior experience serving as an LEA representative or leading IEP teams in a public or charter school setting.

Requirements
