What You’ll Do Instruction and Student Achievement Manage and provide appropriate instructional services for an assigned caseload of English learners. Develop and implement programs and services consistent with student needs, current best practices, and school policies. Prepare high-quality lesson plans, schedules of services, progress documentation, and other required instructional materials. Use approved Performance Academies curriculum, resources, and instructional tools to provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction. Assess students’ English-language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing using appropriate screening and assessment tools. Use assessment results and student-performance data to plan instruction, monitor progress, and adjust services. Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify strategies, accommodations, and supports that help English learners access grade-level instruction. Work closely with classroom teachers, intervention specialists, speech-language pathologists, and other support professionals to distinguish language-acquisition needs from potential disabilities. Support the development of high-quality Evaluation Team Report documentation when English-language proficiency information is required. Assessment, Documentation, and Compliance Maintain an accurate caseload of English learners receiving services at each assigned school. Review enrollment information and home-language surveys to identify students who may require language screening or services. Maintain complete, accurate, and orderly student files, service records, and progress notes. Collaboration and Family Engagement Communicate regularly and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding student progress, services, classroom events, and school activities. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school outreach activities that build a welcoming and inclusive school community. Serve as an advocate for English learners and encourage families to participate actively in their children’s education. Develop a strong understanding of the communities, cultures, and student populations served by assigned schools. Collaborate with principals, teachers, student-services staff, and school leadership to promote consistent and effective student support. Participate in appropriate team meetings and share student information only with individuals who have a legitimate educational need to know. Support school enrollment and community-engagement activities as requested.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution. Valid Ohio teaching license or the ability to obtain appropriate state licensure. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with K–8 students in diverse and inclusive educational settings. Knowledge of child development, instructional practices, and effective approaches to teaching English learners. Understanding of state academic standards, student assessment, and data-informed instruction. Proficiency with digital tools and platforms used for classroom instruction, assessment, documentation, and communication. Commitment to using Performance Academies’ approved curriculum and instructional resources. Preferred TESOL endorsement or other relevant English learner credential. Previous experience providing language instruction or related services to K–8 students. Experience administering the OELPA or other English-language proficiency assessments. Familiarity with Ohio EMIS reporting and English learner compliance requirements. Experience collaborating with general education teachers, intervention specialists, speech-language pathologists, and multidisciplinary teams. Requirements
