  • Category: AquaticsThe Dolphins Assistant Coach is responsible for promoting a safe and positive environment by teaching youth swimmers proper swimming techniques and fostering skill development at all levels. This position assists the Head Coach in conducting structured and concise daily practices, providing individualized feedback, and preparing swimmers for Championship-level meets. The Assistant Coach also supports meet preparation and facilitation, ensuring a fun, team-oriented atmosphere that aligns with the overall goals of the swim program. This position requires strong communication skills, enthusiasm for youth development, and the ability to work afternoons and evenings, and select weekends.

  • Responsibilities: Assist in planning and conducting swim practices that incorporate drills, technique work, and endurance training. Lead assigned daily practices focusing on stroke technique, starts, turns, and overall conditioning; provide feedback to swimmers and support to other coaches as needed. Demonstrate proper swimming techniques both in the water and from the pool deck. Communicate effectively with swimmers and their families regarding team activities, expectations, and performance updates. Support the Head Coach in organizing and executing swim meets, including preparing meet entries, assisting with meet operations, and operating the timing system. Help prepare the team for competitions through mental preparation, structured warm-ups, and ongoing encouragement. Attend swim meets and provide on-deck coaching, motivation, and post-race feedback. Maintain positive relationships with swimmers, parents, and staff to encourage participation and retention. Foster a supportive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment that promotes growth, confidence, and sportsmanship. Maintain a safe pool environment which will include knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and action plans. Attend mandatory in-service training; district-wide part-time staff orientations and crisis training as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent. USA Certified Coach required or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Requires strong people and customer service skills and the ability to organize and promote swim team programs effectively. First Aid/CPR/AED required within 90 days of hire.
