About the Role (The compensation for this role is a $4,500 stipend for the full term of the assignment.) Asphalt Green Volleyball Club is seeking committed and energetic Club Volleyball Assistant Coaches for the 2026–2027 club season. Assistant Coaches work under the guidance of experienced Head Coaches to support player development, team strategy, practice execution, game-day coaching, and overall team success. This role is a strong fit for someone with competitive volleyball experience who wants to help athletes grow in skill, confidence, teamwork, and competitive readiness. The Assistant Coach supports practices, tournaments, tryouts, player feedback, team culture, and program-wide coaching development throughout the season. Why This Role Matters Assistant Coaches play an important role in the success of Asphalt Green Volleyball Club teams. Strong assistant coaching helps athletes receive more individualized support, keeps practices organized and productive, and reinforces consistent team expectations. This role helps create a positive, structured, and competitive environment where athletes can develop their skills, understand team accountability, and grow through the club volleyball experience. What You’ll Do Practice and Player Development Support Support team practices and game preparation from September through May/June. Assist with technical instruction, drill execution, and player feedback. Help athletes build skills, confidence, discipline, and volleyball knowledge. Reinforce team expectations, practice structure, and coaching points. Support athletes of varying skill levels within the assigned team. Help create a positive, competitive, and development-focused team environment. Team Culture and Game-Day Support Provide positive reinforcement while upholding team expectations and accountability. Support the Head Coach during matches and tournaments. Assist with warm-ups, drills, substitutions, player communication, and game-day organization as directed. Attend assigned team tournaments on select weekends. Help maintain strong communication, sportsmanship, and teamwork among athletes. Represent Asphalt Green professionally with athletes, families, officials, coaches, and tournament staff. Collaboration With Coaches and Club Leadership Work closely with the Head Coach to support player development plans and team goals. Collaborate with Head Coaches and club leadership on team needs, athlete progress, and seasonal objectives. Communicate observations, concerns, and player feedback to the Head Coach. Participate in monthly coaching development sessions led by club staff. Follow Asphalt Green, Volleyball Club, USAV, and GEVA expectations, policies, and safety standards. Tryouts and Certification Requirements Attend tryouts in August, with a minimum availability of three scheduled tryout days. Support tryout activities, athlete observation, evaluation, and team placement as directed. Complete required USAV/GEVA certifications and trainings, including SafeSport and IMPACT training. Maintain professionalism and consistency throughout the full club season. Overnight Tournaments Provide athlete supervision and maintain appropriate team standards and conduct throughout tournament travel, hotel stays and competition. Coordinate with program leadership regarding hotel accommodations, tournament schedules, arrival/departure times, and other tournament logistics. Ensure athletes are prepared and present for scheduled matches, meetings and other required team activities. Maintain appropriate athlete supervision, sportsmanship, and professional conduct throughout the event. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means the Head Coach, athletes, and club leadership can rely on the Assistant Coach for preparation, communication, consistency, and player support.

Who You’ll Work With The Club Volleyball Assistant Coach works closely with the Club Volleyball Head Coach, Volleyball Club leadership, athletes, families, and other Asphalt Green coaches and staff. This role may also interact with tournament staff, officials, opposing coaches, and external volleyball partners during the season.

  • You’ll need: Must be at least 18 years old. Experience playing volleyball at a competitive level, such as club, high school, or collegiate volleyball. Strong volleyball knowledge and ability to support technical instruction. Strong communication skills. Ability to work well in a team setting and follow direction from the Head Coach and club leadership. Ability to provide positive reinforcement while upholding team expectations and culture. Availability for a minimum of three scheduled tryout days in August 2026. Availability for weekday evening practices, Saturday training blocks, and select weekend tournaments from January through May/June. Ability to complete USAV/GEVA-mandated certifications, including SafeSport and IMPACT training. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be helpful if you also have: Prior coaching experience at the club, school, or college level. Previous experience coaching or supporting competitive youth volleyball. Experience assisting with drills, practices, player feedback, or game-day coaching. Familiarity with USAV, GEVA, club volleyball, tournaments, and competitive volleyball standards. Experience working with youth athletes and families. CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Bilingual or multilingual language skills. Season Schedule and Work Environment This is a seasonal, in-person coaching role for the Fall 2026–Spring 2027 club volleyball season. The season runs from September 2026 through May/June 2027, with tryouts scheduled in August 2026. Coaches must be available for a minimum of three scheduled tryout days in August. Exact tryout dates will be provided. Team practices are generally held on weekday evenings for 1 hour and 30 minutes, typically on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 6:15 PM and 9:15 PM. Saturday training includes a 1 hour and 30-minute team training block between 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Tournaments are held on select weekends from January through May/June and may include holiday weekends. The work environment includes volleyball courts, gym spaces, tournament sites, team meetings, and other athletic settings. Coaches should be comfortable working in active, high-energy, and competitive environments with youth athletes. Physical Requirements This role may require the ability to: Stand, walk, move, bend, reach, and demonstrate volleyball skills during practices and games. Assist with drills, demonstrations, and team activities in an active gym environment. Communicate clearly in a loud, active, and competitive setting. Observe athlete movement and support instruction and correction. Set up, move, or organize volleyball equipment as needed. Remain alert and engaged during practices, matches, tournaments, and tryouts. Travel to tournament locations as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
